Both of his parents were killed in a climbing accident when he was 11 years old.

Although not appearing in novel, Bond is mentioned briefly by Jack Bauer, after he is suspected of killing a War Hero.

During Agent in Hiding, Bond isn't a 00 agent just yet, and is called in to help Jack Bauer as a favor to his friend Henry Dukes another MI6 agent. Bond works on infiltrating the lair of the villain, at this point, still unknown to the heroes.

Bond discovers that their plot is to destroy Los Angeles, but later on discovers that they are after Jack Bauer. However, Bond is soon captured by Max Payne, undercover as well, and taken to the unknown villain for torture.

On August 10, 2008, James Bond later was being briefed on a mission, when MI6 came under siege by a group of terrorists keen on capturing Jack Bauer to help them take over an island full of United States Agents. However, before they can fulfill their task, Jack escapes with James Bond.

James assisted Jack Bauer in capturing Jacob Winston, an English Terrorist bent on destroying James and all of MI6. After a brutal interrogation by Jack Bauer, Jacob reveals that it was his plan to siege MI6, and capture Jack. Jack then shoots Jacob twice through the chest, killing him quickly. As Jacob's father ran into the room in protest and tried to stab Jack, James shot him in the forehead, killing him as Jacob's brother Travis watched.
